On the trail of the Brandenburg forest pugs

The wood pug was presented to the astonished public for the first time in 1972 by the Brandenburg humorist and honorary citizen Vicco von Bülow, alias Loriot, in the sketch "Animal hour - The wild wood pug". So go on a mysterious search for traces of the 'released' wood pugs in Brandenburg an der Havel. The 50cm tall bronze figures sit, stand, sleep, sniff and lift their legs. Next to the Johanniskirche on the Millennium Bridge, the visitor will find the answer to the riddle on a wooden terrace, why "a life without a pug is possible, but pointless".

At a height of up to 40 meters you can let your gaze wander to Berlin and Fläming. The view from the top level of the observation tower, which, like the treetop path itself, can be reached with an elevator, is spectacular. Since 2015 the world war ruin "Alpenhaus" has been bridged by our treetop path. A unique roof forest has been growing on it since 1945. Visitors can explore this and around 65 tree and shrub species in the historic Heilstättenpark from a unique perspective, barrier-free. From above, visitors can see a magical place from a unique perspective and see the charm of the architecture of the sanatoriums and the historical gardens. Surrounded by pine forests, the historical sanatorium area looks like a colorful, sparkling mosaic from above - framed by dark green velvet - a very special excursion!

Riewendsee lake

The Riewendsee offers the best opportunities to practice water sports. For sunbathing and swimming there is a large bathing area with a lawn directly behind the church in Riewend. Other, smaller bathing spots at the beginning and end of the village are connected by a path along the banks. This riverside path is part of the hiking trail from Bagow to Riewend, which the Beetzsee municipality wants to implement. The Heimatverein supports the project and thinks it makes sense to include this hiking trail in a circular path around the Riewendsee near the shore.
